Camila Alves maternity style
Camila Alves is expecting her third child with husband Matthew McConaughey and she revealed that she has learned how to dress her baby bump to flatter her body.
"I look better if I have tight, fitted things. Anytime I put on anything that is really flowing, it makes me look twice as big than I am," she told Us Weekly.
Alves, who is already a mom to 4-year-old Levi and 2-year-old Vida, has been seen wearing chic mini dresses and maxi dresses that fit and flatter her pregnancy curves. What's her secret? Her dresses are sized to hug her maternity curves and she is often seen in clothes with ties or ruching to prevent that dreaded tent look as her tummy grows.
"Do not be afraid to be sexy while you're pregnant," said Alves, who is the brand ambassador of Macy's exclusive INC line. "I'm learning that on my third pregnancy. I'm like, 'oh wow, you don't have to wear just flowing things.'"
Recreate the look
Although Matthew McConaughey looked a bit skinny and gaunt in this picture (he had to lose 30 pounds for a role!), his wife Camila looked gorgeous in this turquoise maxi wrap dress with a sexy split, which was designed by FIDM Graduate Kevan Hall. The style of this dress is forgiving enough that you don't necessarily have to buy a maternity dress. This Ella Moss Girl's Best Friend Maxi Dress in teal ($188, Revolve Clothing) will fit and flatter both pregnant and non-pregnant moms. You will also love the long-sleeve version of this dress, such as the Isabella Oliver Willow Maternity Dress ($389, IsabellaOliver.com). This dress has a gorgeous cut and will flatter your curves throughout pregnancy and beyond.
The Sleeveless Maternity Maxi Dress from A Pea in the Pod is a more casual version of this dress, but is in that same gorgeous teal color with a side slit. It is also much more budget-friendly at only $30! Pair it with a black or tan blazer or cardigan during the winter months and wear it with sandals during the warmer months.
Alves wears tan, peep-toe heels, which help lengthen and slim her legs. The Ramona II by Sofft in sand ($50, Piperlime) are a great choice for pregnant moms because they feature their advanced comfort technology with a heel for lift — but it is not so high that you feel unsteady. This color goes with everything!
Alves has a gorgeous glow to her skin and celebrity makeup artist Jamie Greenberg has worked with the mom-to-be and shared some of her tricks for her red carpet looks. "I buffed and layered mark Bronze Pro Bronzing Powder in Bronze with some slight contouring on the hollows of her cheeks to accentuate her gorgeous angular features," she said. To accentuate her glow, she used a touch of blush. "For a healthy, natural glow, I applied mark Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Nude to Camila's cheeks."
