The best gifts I received as a new mom were stretchy pants (literally, five pairs for Christmas two weeks after my son was born -- thanks for the vote of confidence, mom!) and casseroles. But I definitely wouldn’t have turned down jewelry!

Beware!^You may want to steer clear of gifting a new mom with stretchy clothes... while I greatly appreciated all the loungewear from my mom, new moms could easily take offense at the insinuation so much elastic exudes!

Give of yourself...

Gifts of time are by far the most helpful for new moms. Bring her a family dinner, stay an extra hour and vacuum after a visit, offer to run a few errands for her. Anything to help her rest and focus on her new baby will be much appreciated. One of my close friends was gifted with six months of housecleaning services after her third child was born. To say it was a godsend would be an understatement!

...or give her some jewelry!

As helpful as they are, stretchy pants and casseroles don't go a long way to making mom feel beautiful. Rested? Yes. But like she still has a sense of style? Not so much. That's why we love these new mom jewelry gifts. Sure, anyone can grab a pair of earrings or a necklace and wrap it up, but these gifts are each handpicked with mom in mind.

Arc Hoops

price: $49
Earrings

Signature Pendant

price: $20
Necklace

A first-time mom may not realize how tempting earrings are for little hands. They're the perfect plaything for little fingers and it only takes one tug to make mom realize it's time to retire her hoops. No need!

Give mom these Arc Hoops by Kris Nations. The wishbone shape is open, meaning your little one may still play with it but their fingers won't get caught inside the hoop. These earrings are a great way to get the hoop look without the hollering! Available in gold, silver and rose gold, $49.

New moms will soon realize that everything really does go in baby's mouth, especially mom's favorite necklaces. We love Teething Bling because it's both stylish and functional. Their designs are colorful and easy to wear, and the bling is actually a teething ring for baby. Teething Bling necklaces are both stylish for mom and safe for baby -- they're non-toxic (phthalate-, BPA-, PVC-, latex- and lead-free) and feature a breakaway clasp. Celebrity moms like Tori Spelling, Tiffani Amber Thiessen and Holly Robinson Peete have all been spotted with Teething Bling. Signature pendants, $20.

Initial Bracelet

price: $145
Braclet

Sunshine Necklace

price: $130
Necklace

We can't get enough of Isabelle Grace's personalized jewelry designs! In fact, I wear an Isabelle Grace pendant at least every other day! The Signature Initial Bracelet is a fun, fashionable bracelet that's also practical! It goes with just about everything and can be personalized with an initial. It layers well with other bracelets, too. Signature initial bracelet, $145.

Especially for adoptive moms^

Isabelle Grace's Hello Sunshine necklace commemorates the first time mom meets her little one. The sun charm is engraved with "Oh happy day, when you came" -- and you can add personalized initial charms representing each child. Starting at $130.

My daughter latched onto my Teething Bling necklace the very first time I wore it, as though she knew it was meant specifically for her. I recommend it highly for every mom with a teether!
