Heidi Klum's style staples
Heidi loves to show off her long legs when she is on the red carpet, but she sticks to comfortable, yet chic, maxi dresses and relaxed fit jeans when spending time with her kids.
"I am a woman who likes to take chances and surprise people with the unexpected. I am playful and I like to experiment," says Klum. "I love clothing and shoes and accessories. It is fun to dress up!"
Klum often sticks to solid colors but spices up her look with a statement necklace or eye-catching shoes. Her clothes are on-trend, yet comfortable, with jersey knit skirts and soft tank tops. Klum doesn't only love wearing great clothes -- she has also designed a line of maternity clothes for A Pea in the Pod and Motherhood Maternity.
Recreate the look
Klum was spotted out with her cute daughter Lou wearing a black flowing maxi dress paired with a simple layered necklace, chic sunglasses and jet black nail polish to finish off her look. Klum has the perfect cool mom look -- with an edge!
The Michael Stars Stripe Blouson Maxi Dress ($98, Piperlime) has the same flattering elastic waist and scoop neckline as Klum's dress. The gathered waistline is a great look for women who have a large bust because it gives your body shape and defines your waist.
Another stylish option is the Victoria's Secret Maxi Bra Top Dress (on sale for under $70). These dresses are great because they have a built-in shelf bra, which means you don't have to wear an uncomfortable strapless bra. Score! Speaking from personal experience, the bra-top dresses are a must-have for summer!
You can also get Klum's same look by pairing a long black maxi skirt, such as the Splendid Maxi Skirt ($88), with a chic tank top. Pairing a gray tank top, such as the Sequin Zig Zag Tank Top (on sale for $40, Piperlime) is a fun summer look. A black skirt is versatile because you can mix and match it with embellished or printed tanks, as well.
Keep your accessories simple, yet fun with layered necklaces or stacked bangles. This Muench metal necklace from Aldo ($16) is eye-catching -- yet not too dressed up for a park date with the kids.
Pull your hair up in a chic ponytail or bun and amp up your look with large-rimmed sunglasses, such as these Greenrose shades from Aldo ($12). Finish off your celeb mom style with jet black nail polish, such as Essie nail polish in licorice ($8). Make sure your nails are short and well manicured, otherwise this dark shade can go from trendy to trashy in a flash.
